This weekend at St. Matthew's

5pm New member class, 85 Wayne St, contact Pastor Arnesen

"Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all." Then Jesus took a little child and put it among the disciples; and taking it in his arms, he said to them, "Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me." Mark 9:35-37

When Jesus said these words, and lifted up a little child, children were invisible. They had no legal rights, they had no economic value, and many did not survive to adulthood. As he so often did, Jesus noticed and lifted up people that others ignored and disregarded.

This Sunday 9/23, we pay attention to Jesus' regard for all God's children, his call to notice and serve others, and his willingness to serve us at the heavenly banquet table. Pastor Hans Arnesen will preach and preside at a service of Holy Communion beginning at 11am.

Come, know God's welcome.
